Learning to play a musical instrument is a challenging and rewarding experience that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. At George's Music, we offer private, one-on-one lessons tailored to your style and ability. Currently, GMI offers in-store lessons at all of our locations with the exception of Jacksonville Beach and Orange Park. For those locations we have our George's Music Teaching Association where we can help connect you with a local instructor in your area. For your convenience, we've provided the following answers to frequently asked questions from our students.
Q:
What will lessons teach me?
A:
Quite simply, lessons will teach you anything you want to learn. Just let your teacher know what style of music or what songs you'd like to learn. They can customize your lessons to fit any style of music and any level of expertise.
Q:
Who is my teacher?
A:
Your teacher is a qualified music instructor with serious musical training and dedication to their instrument. In many cases, the instructors
are working professional musicians with a great deal of playing experience.
They are quite capable of teaching you the finer points of playing
technique and music theory. The relationship you build with your teacher
will be a strong one as you learn and progress.
Q:
When are my lessons?
A:
You will meet with your teacher at the same time every week for a half hour lesson
or longer if you desire. Call your nearest
George's Music to schedule a lesson!
Q:
What if I have to cancel a lesson?
A:
If, for any reason, you’ll be unable to to attend a lesson, please call the
store at least 24 hours before your scheduled time. A make-up
lesson may be scheduled with your teacher depending upon their
availability. A credit will be issued if a make-up lesson isn’t possible.
The store’s staff will let your teacher know about your absence.
Q:
What materials will I need for my lessons and where can I get them?
A:
Your teacher will let you know what materials you’ll need for
your lessons. This may include instructional books, staff paper,
etc. Everything you need can be purchased at George’s Music.
And George’s Music also offers a HUGE selection of Song Books,
DVD’s, Sheet Music and other items to help you get the most out
of your instrument.
If you need something we don’t have in stock, any member of
the store’s staff will be happy to order it for you. All you need
to do is ask!
Q:
How much are my lessons?
A:
Lesson prices range from $17 to $20 per half hour private lesson depending upon instructor and location.
Q:
How and when do I pay for my lessons?
A:
The full month of lessons is paid for on the first calendar week of
the month. To pay for your lessons, just go to the front counter
and tell a sales associate that you want to pay for lessons. You’ll
need to provide the following information:
- your name
- your teacher’s name
Lessons may be paid for with cash, check or debit card only.
After you’ve paid for your lessons, the sales associate will give
you two copies of your receipt. The white copy is for your
records. The yellow copy is to be given to your teacher. It’s very
important that you give your teacher a copy of the receipt.
